Hearing naturally changes with age and cumulative noise exposure, while headphone and microphone quality varies enormously across hardware. These audio tests give you measurable data about your hearing range and equipment performance using only your browser and your existing audio setup — no specialist equipment required.

The Hearing Age Test plays tones at progressively higher frequencies to identify your upper hearing threshold. Human hearing spans 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz in ideal conditions, but the upper limit declines naturally from the late teens onward — most adults in their 30s top out around 15,000–17,000 Hz. Noise exposure from concerts, power tools, and extended headphone use at high volume accelerates this decline permanently, making early awareness and hearing protection important.

The Headphone Test plays targeted test signals to check for channel balance (left vs right), stereo separation, and frequency coverage — helping you identify whether reduced audio quality is coming from your headphones, your cable, or your source device. The Microphone Test uses the browser's Web Audio API to visualize your microphone's live waveform, instantly confirming whether your microphone is correctly connected, not muted, and picking up sound cleanly.

All audio tests require headphones or earbuds for accurate results — built-in laptop speakers cannot reproduce high-frequency tones reliably. Use a quiet room and moderate volume for consistent results.
